In The Grove is home textile pattern series inspired by nature. The series was created as a thesis work at Oulu University of Applied Sciences Spring 2021.

In my studies at OUAS I had no idea what to do as my thesis work. I knew I was interested in art and mythologies but that was it. Then Susanna Sivonen gave a talk for one of our courses and I thought about textile design for the first time. . The thought stayed in my mind and when the time came to decide what to do I almost immediately knew i wanted to do home textile design.
When starting any design work
- I always go to pen and paper first. I doodled a lot of thoughts and designs, did research on possible stories to use as an inspiration.
- After I had mostly decided on the designs, I went to Adobe Illustrator to continue.

During the project
- I had quite a lot of creative block during the project, since the covid-19 pandemic was on and I had to work by myself alone
- I really wanted to bring some hand made qualities and imperfections to the designs
- First my Idea was to do even more designs, but I realised I had run out of time

Finished product
- Finished textile series include three designs with colour variations.
- Because of the global pandemic, I wasn’t able to order physical samples.
- What I learnt from this was how I like to work and how to make sure I deliver my work on time.
- I learnt to make my own schedule and follow it and adjust when needed
